Sunny Picture to Blank Out The Rain

This is actually one of Husband's pictures taken of hang gliders on the South Downs on one of his long distance walks. I thought it might cheer us all up in this really gloomy awful sunless rainy weather we are having.

I have kept weather records for over 30 years. Last year during the floods we clocked up 78mm of rain in 24 hours. I have a tipping bucket digital wireless rain gauge and wireless temperature sensors etc. I think over the 30 years the most dramatic change is in the overnight temperatures. I used to record -12C on occasions in the 1970's and 80's, now everyone gets excited if the overnight temperatures dip below -4C. We used to get 'freezing days' where the temperature never climbs above zero - not any more.

We need that photo! One of the bad things abuot this weather is that it's impossible to dry wet coats after dog-walking, so everything smells damp and horrid.

Beautiful photo - we had a sunny afternoon. The temperatures that you refer to - are they minus 12 and 4 or a temperature change of 12 and 4 C?

Cheshire Wife - I refer to minus 12C and minus 4C

Thank you for your answer. Minus 12 is quite cold. Maybe there is something in global warmimg after all.

Keep thinking of going to live in Italy (purely for the temperature and the sun) but when we were there is was too hot to move on some days. I think I prefer it cooler but it is better when there is not rain every day...
